ATTENTION!
Please make note of the following...
There has been confusion (expected) about how to access all your classes. First let me say that we are so glad that you want to be a part of our online dance experience - so thank you for your questions! Here's what you need to know:
Your classes will alternate between these 2 platforms - Zoom and Google Classroom
On the week of your LIVE STREAM CLASS, you do not need a code to log in, nor do you need to get onto Zoom UNTIL IT IS TIME FOR YOUR CLASS. You will receive an email from Ms. Laurel that will contain a link that will take you directly into your live stream class. If you do not receive that email, please text Ms. Laurel asap so she knows. Sometimes cyber space eats emails...I have no idea why, but it seems to happen. You might need to be patient for your class or your email because there are most likely other classes on before yours. Ms. Laurel will try to reach out to all who are not in attendance at the live stream class. Once the class begins, please mute your microphone so that the only music or speaking is coming from the teacher. Aim your camera so we can see your whole body or at least most of it. A headset is a good idea to wear if there will be excess noise in the background that might make it hard for your dancer to hear. Try not to have back-lighting - this means that the sun or the main lighting in your room is coming from behind you. People who are back-lit on Zoom are very hard to see. Shine a light on your face if possible. We want to see your smile! Remember that there will always be a lag in the time it takes for our video streams to get back and forth to each other. Patience and a sense of humor helps with all these new experiences!
On the week of your RECORDED CLASS you will receive, in Google Classroom, an "assignment". There is no set time that you need to get online and look at and complete your assignment. It is not due until the day before your next class so take your time to review the material before you make your practice video submission. The assignment will usually post on the day of the recorded class. We are still catching up with everything, so if you do not see it, ask Ms. Laurel on BAND about what is happening or just check back in the next day. You can make the video and upload it to Google drive and share it, you can make a video right inside your Google Classroom by adding a Chrome extension that records videos, or you can video on your phone and share in BAND with your teacher via a private chat. There are many ways to get it done! If you are unsure how to proceed, ask another Mom on BAND and see what worked for them. BAND is our virtual lobby - so talk to each other there!
If you encounter any other difficulties beyond what is shared here, please reach out to Ms. Laurel. She wants this to be a good experience for all of you!
"See" you in class!!!
